Though it may not require any external hardware equipment for you to start exploring virtual worlds, it does need a stable internet connection.

And we can never be sure with our internet connection, be it  WiFi or Ethernet. We can never predict when our internet connection decides to betray us! If your internet connectivity issues are annoying you while you are lost in a different VR world, don’t worry! This article will help you to fix it easily.

Connect to a different network

If you face issues while connecting your Oculus Quest 2 with the internet, try connecting to a different network connection. Disconnect your VR headset from the current WiFi network and connect it to a different network. This could easily resolve your issue and you will be back in your own virtual world in no time!

Check for weak Wifi signal

Check for your Wifi signal strength. If the signal is shown as weak, that could be why you are having difficulties connecting your Oculus Quest 2 to the internet. Try moving closer to the Wifi router or to the same room as your WiFi router. Make sure there aren’t any obstacles hindering the path of the Wifi signal. A strong Wifi connection is required for the Oculus Quest 2 to provide a seamless virtual reality experience.  If it’s still not working, you can try connecting to a different Wifi network with a strong signal.

Follow the below steps to change the Wifi network in the oculus mobile app.

  • Turn on your Oculus Quest 2 headset and open the Oculus Quest mobile app.
  • Click on Devices on the bottom menu and select the headset you are using from the device list.
  • Click on Wifi
  • Select the new WiFi network you would like to connect
  • Enter the password for the new WiFi network
  • Click on Connect to WiFi

To do it from your headset, follow the below steps

  • Press the button on your Touch controller that opens the universal menu.
  • On the left side of the universal menu, you will see a clock symbol.
  • Hover on the menu till you see the Quick Settings option.
  • Click on WiFi
  • Select the Wifi network you want to connect to and enter the new password.
  • Click on connect

Check your phone’s hardware configuration

If your phone’s configuration is not compatible with the Oculus Quest 2 device, you will face problems with connecting to the wifi network. Check the phone’s configuration and try pairing your headset to a different phone which is compatible.

Bypass captive portal page

When you turn on your VR headset and connect it to a public WiFi network, you will be required to do a setup through the captive portal page before you can connect to the internet. These captive portal pages usually appear when you try to connect to a free or public Wifi hotspot. It is recommended to connect to a secured network because free Wifi hotspots will not work properly with your Oculus Quest 2.

Check your internet speed

Do an internet speed test online and if it matches the minimum internet requirements. If it does not match, you can try upgrading to a high-speed internet plan. A strong internet connection is inevitable for enjoying your virtual reality experiences to the fullest.

Oculus Quest 2 contains a few hundred downloadable games and this is just the beginning.
