Enable Developer mode
This is one of the first things you need to do when you are starting to use SideQuest. Make sure you have enabled Developer mode. Follow the steps correctly on SideQuest’s official website while setting up side loading. Before you can begin to sideload apps, you need to follow the below steps to enable Developer mode.
- To register as a Developer visit this link https://developer.oculus.com/manage/organizations/create/
- Log in to your Oculus account.
- Enter a name for the organization and click on Submit. You can change the organisation name later if you want to.
- Now, turn on the Oculus Quest 2 headset.
- Open the Oculus app on your Android or iOS device.
- Click on Settings in the bottom right corner.
- Select the Oculus Quest device that is connected from the list.
- Click on More Settings now.
- Then, click on Developer mode.
- Toggle ON Developer mode.
Developer mode is now enabled and you can check this by rebooting your Oculus Quest 2 headset. SideQuest should be able to detect your VR headset now!
Allow all permissions
Now that you have connected your Oculus Quest and launched SideQuest, it’s time to put on your headset. Make sure you allow all permissions that are prompted. In addition to file transfer, you will also be required to allow USB debugging. Allowing all permissions should make your SideQuest detect the VR headset with no problem.
Enable USB debugging
If you missed allowing permission for USB debugging when it was promoted, don’t worry. You can do it again.

- Open the SideQuest app on your computer.
- Connect your VR headset via USB cable.
- Now put on the headset and you should be able to see a window prompt asking you to Allow USB Debugging.
- Check the box for Always Allow from this computer.
