Because EA isn’t quite ready to forsake the previous generation of systems, the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of the new game will only support 64 players at launch. The PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X / S all support 128 players at once, however, the PS4 / Xbox One only supports 64. The Xbox One and PlayStation 4 will each contain 64 players, reducing the size of the card.

The beta will be offered as additional early access for anyone who pre-order the game, according to the company. Those who have pre-ordered the game will be able to participate in an early open beta before the official release.
Electronic Arts plans to undertake a closed technical playtest in July but has not revealed who would be required to register in order to play Battlefield 2042. While the game’s release date is set for October 22, 2021, it’s likely that the beta will take place in August or September.
